ABC Radio National

I enjoyed speaking with Andy Park on ABC Radio National’s The Drawing Room, along with CSO Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Jessica Cottis. You can listen here.

“We all know the classic pieces of orchestral music, the Stravinskys, the Beethovens, and the Bachs; music that has stood the test of time and been performed on stages across the world.

But how does a composer, working today, begin to join those ranks and hear their work come to life on stage?

In the Drawing Room, composer Leah Curtis and conductor Jessica Cottis talk about their paths to music and the debut of Leah's new composition, Infinite Possibilities.

Film: Customer Service

A score is complete for a new project by Director Pedro Gonzalez Kuhn of Sintagma Films and Producer Vanessa Perez filmed in Mexico and penned by writer Stephanie Adams-Santos.

Infinite Possibilities

I’m grateful for the many people involved in the commissioning and performing the new orchestral work Infinite Possibilities for Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Jessica Cottis and the Canberra Symphony Orchestra.

Titled Infinite Possibilities, the concert opens with a CSO commission of the same name from Leah Curtis, who grew up in Canberra and works internationally out of Los Angeles.

A suite from Curtis’ score for To Rest in Peace featured in the CSO’s sold-out 2021 film music special. “Writing Infinite Possibilities has extended me into new sound worlds,” writes Curtis in the program note for her new piece. “Exploring movement, embodiment and what might emerge from the silence…imagining the distinctive virtuosity of each member of the orchestra.”

ABC Classic: The Ground

The Ground, a new work in collaboration with didgeridoo virtuoso Chris Williams, commissioned by the Southern Cross Soloists, and led by artistic director Tania Frazer, has been recorded by ABC Concerts and broadcast on ABC Classic. You can listen here, and read more about the work in Limelight.

Program notes are available here.
